This morning was almost tragic when my little minpin Cleo came in from outside puking up. At first I didn't think much of it thought she had an upset stomach until but after a minute she became unresponsive, and wouldn't move.
I picked her up, saying, "Cleo!" "Cleo!" "Cleo!". She still was not responding. I got my brother and law and we headed off to the vet. Her gums and tongue had turned grey and we were unsure what was happening.
We got to the vet and when he took her tempeture it was unnormally low. Blood work done, and other test revealed, one elevated liver enzyme, Tonsilitis, and her sugar was a little high.
She then started breaking out into hives. She was suffering from a severe allergic reaction, perhaps something stung her while she was outside this morning. They gave her a benedryl shot and some meds for the liver enzyme and tonsilitis and kept her for a few hours for observation.
At first the didn't know what was happening to her and one thing they checked for was kideny failure which made me cry and hope and pray it was not that.
My husband was so upset because he's on location in GA working and wasn't able to be there to hold her and tell her everything is going to be okay. To cheer him up I took this picture to show him well she was recovering.
Sorry for the flash eyes. It was so scary holding her cold limp unresponsive body in my arms. For a few minutes I thought I had lost her. I love her soooo much I tear up just thinking about it.
Oh No! What a scary morning. I hope the lovely Cleo is all better.
We had an old dog, Pappy, (we rescued him from the pound) and he was not well for a long time but the vet couldn't ever find anything wrong with him. I went out of town for a week and Pappy died in his sleep the first night I was gone. I was so sad. Chris said it was like he was waiting for me to go somewhere.

Awww that is so sad. He was trying to protect you from his passing. I can't stand to think of those things. Cleo is 6 now. She's my baby girl and always be. It was just so scary to think I had lost her so soon.
Thank god she is okay but I dread the day she has to leave me.
