It's hard to comment. You have to log in after you are already logged in. I think it causes people to comment less and therefore makes typepad feel less friendly, less community driven and more like people just posting things and faving things(myself included).
It makes me feel selfish because I can't openly support my friends on here.
You can set Type Pad so that people don't have to sign on at your own blog. I did that. I also left directions on my blog so that other ex-voxers could do the same. Here it is. http://cimmorene.typepad.com/blog/2010/09/making_comments_in_typepad.html Feel free to use it and, also, send it to some of the friends you'd like to see changing their settings a bit. It's all there.

I agree so wholeheartedly that I made the effort to sign in and tell ya so :)

Cimmy's solution is a good one (and I don't say that simply because she's my wife... wait for it... here we go...) but it doesn't solve the whole problem.
I'd like them to give us a better tracking cookie or whatever so we stay logged in. The current tracking cookie option allows you to comment with username and even URL (if you want your username to point to your WP blog, or whatever), but not necessarily with your TP credentials... unless you sign in.

I don't think 6A/Say Media gives two shits about community, really. I know they are a business and consequently they have been focusing on making money (instead of losing it), and so I have to give them that, but..
But what concerns me is when paying TP users say the interface and overall experience is getting worse compared to what they had before. And I wish I knew how to explain to Steve Calderon that not everyone who complains is a Whiny Little Bitch, but has a legitimate concern instead. Yes, I know technically he was speaking about Facebook and... LJ, I think, but I think he backhanded a lot of the Vox Diaspora whether he intended to or not.
Not all of us are San Fran hipsters nor do many of even care about that scene. Yes, that was a jab. Maybe even a punch to the gut.

You don't have to sign in to comment at my TypePad pages. I turned on TypePad Connect at the bottom of the comment settings. You can choose whether to have threaded or flat replies there, as well.
